Who we are
OtherHalf AI operates the companion chat published at otherhalf-ai.net. Wherever this policy says "we", "us" or "the service", it means OtherHalf AI. Wherever it says "you", it means the adult member using the service.
Scope of this policy
This policy covers the OtherHalf AI website, the chat interface and any related pages we publish. It does not cover websites, stores or platforms that we do not control, even when you reach them from a link on our pages.
Age requirement
OtherHalf AI is for adults aged 18 or older, or the age of majority where you live if that is higher. We do not knowingly collect information from minors. If we learn that an account belongs to a minor, we close it and delete the associated data.
Account information
To create an account we ask for an email address and a password, and we record the date the account was opened. You may optionally add a display name, a country and a date of birth used only for age confirmation.
Conversation content
Messages you exchange with a companion are stored so the conversation can continue where it left off and so your companion can refer back to earlier details. Conversations are attached to your account and are not published anywhere or shown to other members.
Companion preferences
Your chosen companion, her personality settings, tone, nicknames and similar preferences are saved so she behaves consistently between sessions. You can change or clear these settings at any time from within the chat.
Payment data
Card numbers are handled by our payment providers and are never stored on our side. We keep only what we need for accounting and support: plan name, amount, currency, date, country and the last four digits of the card. Statement descriptors are kept discreet.
Device and usage data
Our servers record technical information such as IP address, browser type, operating system, referring page, approximate region and timestamps. This helps us keep the service running, spot abuse and fix errors.
Cookies and similar tools
We use cookies and comparable local storage to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, protect against automated abuse and measure how pages perform. You can clear or block cookies in your browser, though parts of the chat may stop working if you do.
Analytics
We look at aggregated statistics — page views, load times, general traffic sources, feature usage — to understand what works. These reports describe groups of visitors, not individuals, and we do not use them to build advertising profiles about you.
Marketing messages
If you agree, we may email you occasional service updates or offers. Every message includes an unsubscribe link, and withdrawing consent does not affect the operational emails we must send about your account or billing.
Legal grounds for processing
We process your data to perform the contract you enter when you use OtherHalf AI, to meet legal obligations such as tax and record keeping, on the basis of our legitimate interest in running a safe service, and on your consent where consent is required.
How we use your data
We use your data to create and secure your account, deliver the chat, remember your preferences, process payments, answer support requests, prevent fraud and abuse, comply with the law and improve the service overall.
Service providers
We work with a limited number of suppliers for hosting, storage, email delivery, payment processing and security. They may process data on our behalf only, under contract, and only for the purpose we have set. They may not use it for their own ends.
International transfers
Our suppliers may store or process data in countries other than yours, including outside the European Economic Area. Where that happens we rely on recognised transfer mechanisms, such as standard contractual clauses, to keep your data protected.
Data retention
Account and conversation data is kept while your account is active. After closure we delete or anonymise it within a reasonable period, keeping only records we are legally required to hold, such as invoices, for the retention period set by law.
Security measures
We use encrypted connections, access controls, isolated environments and regular reviews of who can reach what. No system is perfect, and we will not claim otherwise, but we treat conversation content as sensitive by default.
Your access and correction rights
You can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you and ask us to correct anything inaccurate. We answer verified requests within one month and will tell you if we need longer because a request is complex.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account from your settings page or by writing to us. Deletion removes your profile, your companion settings and your conversation history from active systems, and it cannot be undone.
Portability and objection
Where the law provides for it, you may request your data in a portable format, ask us to restrict certain processing, or object to processing based on legitimate interests. Tell us what you want and we will explain what is possible.
Notes for EU and UK members
If you are in the European Economic Area, Switzerland or the United Kingdom, you have the rights described in the sections above under the applicable data protection rules, and you may complain to your national supervisory authority if you believe we have handled your data badly.
Notes for California members
California residents may request details of the categories of personal information collected, the purposes for collecting it and the categories of recipients, and may request deletion. We do not discriminate against members who exercise these rights.
No sale of personal information
OtherHalf AI does not sell your personal information and does not share conversation content with advertisers or data brokers.
Automated decisions
Companion replies are generated automatically, which is the nature of the service. We do not use automated processing to make decisions with legal effects about you, other than automated safety checks that may suspend an account for suspected fraud or abuse. You can ask a human to review such a decision.
Third-party links
Some pages link to external destinations. Once you leave OtherHalf AI, the privacy practices of that destination apply and we have no control over how it treats your data. Read its own policy before sharing anything.
Breach notification
If a security incident affects your personal data and creates a real risk to you, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required, describing what happened and what we are doing about it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service changes or the law does. The date at the top always reflects the current version, and material changes will be announced on the site before they take effect.
